Privacy Policy
Story Channels Publisher ("the app") is a desktop tool run by an individual account owner on their own computer. This policy explains what data it handles, where that data lives, and how to remove it.
The short version
The app runs on your own machine. It stores your TikTok authorization on that machine so it can upload drafts to your account. There is no server, no account system, no analytics, and nothing is shared with anyone.
1. Data the app stores
When you authorize a TikTok account, the app stores the following locally:
- Access token and refresh token — used to upload drafts to your account and to keep the authorization working without asking you to sign in repeatedly.
- Your TikTok open ID and username — used to confirm that videos are being sent to the account you intended, and to stop if they are not.
- Upload records — the identifier TikTok returns for each uploaded draft, its status, and which video it relates to, so the app can tell you what is waiting for review and avoid uploading the same video twice.
2. Where it is stored
All of the above is stored in configuration files on the account owner's own computer, restricted so that only that user account can read them. Nothing is transmitted to the developer, and there is no remote database, hosted backend, or third-party analytics service.
3. Data the app does not collect
- It does not collect or store your TikTok videos, followers, comments, likes, or direct messages.
- It does not collect personal information about anyone other than the account owner who authorizes it.
- It does not use tracking, advertising identifiers, or behavioural profiling.
- It does not collect data from viewers of your published videos.
4. How TikTok data is used
Data obtained through TikTok's APIs is used only to carry out the action you asked for: uploading a video to your own account as a draft, and reporting the status of that upload back to you. It is not used for any other purpose, not combined with data from other sources, and not used to train models.
5. Sharing
Your data is not sold, rented, or shared. The only third party involved is TikTok itself, which necessarily receives the video and the request when you ask the app to upload a draft to your account.
6. Retention and deletion
You remain in control of this data at all times:
- Revoke access — remove the app's authorization from your TikTok account settings at any time. Existing tokens stop working immediately.
- Delete local data — deleting the app's configuration files removes the stored tokens, IDs, and upload records from your computer permanently.
- Drafts — any draft already delivered to your TikTok inbox belongs to your TikTok account. You can post or delete it in TikTok; the app cannot delete it for you.
7. Security
Stored credentials are kept in files readable only by the account owner's own user account, and are never written to logs, error messages, or displayed on screen. As with any locally stored credential, security also depends on the account owner keeping their computer and user account secure.
8. Children
The app is a creator tool for the account owner and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age required to hold a TikTok account.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with an updated date.
